Since about 2013, a large portion of my design work has been on Enclosures. I quickly see people’s eyes glaze over when I begin telling them about a box I made, so I usually don’t go there.

The requirements for the enclosures have varied greatly. Some would need to survive the intense vibrations of a rocket launch, and prevent EMI, while others would need to stay completely sealed and dissipate enough heat to keep the electronics from cooking inside.

Below are a few of the enclosures that I’ve designed.

Weather Sealed, EMI Shielded, and Thermally optimized Aluminum Enclosure.
Jupiter OLS, with a welded & powder coated frame for the solar panel. The system is completely portable. Drop it out the back of a truck and turn it on.
Jupiter TMS is a portable Transient monitoring System for watching power surges and radiation waves that may affect your critical assets (satellite, rocket, sensitive electronics, etc). The enclosure is customized extruded aluminum and anodized blue.
A modified BUD enclosure, using shielded 38999 circular connectors.
Multiple custom designed enclosures, in a customized Hoffman rack, on isolators, in the base of the Mobile Launcher at Kennedy Space Center.
Custom enclosures, designed and documented in Creo.
2 Instrumentation enclosures, designed to be strapped to a chair. Obviously the enclosures are removed prior to using the chair.
