At SLS, my main responsibility is to design, fabricate, and oversee production of all the mechanical components for our products. These products include our Jupiter line of lightning monitoring systems, lightning sensors, and custom solutions. The products are designed to be incredibly reliable with zero dead time, even in harsh weather conditions. In addition, I write custom simulation programs to perform “Rolling Sphere” analyses on our customers’ assets, as well as take care of procurement, inventory mgmt, and graphic design.

SGT Inc

DESIGN ENGINEER – MARCH 2013 – AUG 2016 ( 3 Years )

During my time with SGT at Kennedy Space Center, I had the privilege of working in the Weather (Wx) group of the Engineering Development Lab. My main responsibility was to design the enclosures and internal brackets that house the sensitive lightning detection and monitoring electronics. The enclosures were designed to withstand temperature changes and launch vibrations at different locations along the SLS Mobile Launcher tower. In addition to designing the products, I managed and participated in the prototyping, drawing release, and final production.

Scrap Pile Labs

FOUNDER, CO-OWNER – JAN 2009 – JAN 2016 ( 7 years )

Scrap Pile Labs is a product design company that specializes in accessories for electronic devices. The company has the capabilities to take a mechanical or electrical product from napkin sketch to production. We released a camcorder accessory back in 2009, and most recently released an iPhone accessory in May 2012. Both products were invented, designed, and promoted using in house equipment and expertise. We used high-tech automated equipment that allowed us to work fast with our designs and quickly determine necessary changes to ensure a quality product.

My responsibilities at VisualCue, a data visualization company, were basically to manage all things “Visual” for the company. My specific duties included designing & managing the company’s marketing campaigns, designing/simplifying user interfaces and providing HTML/CSS mock-ups for the software development team.

ASRC Aerospace

ENGINEERING DESIGNER – MAR 2005 – JULY 2010 ( 5 years )

ASRC Aerospace is a space contractor at Kennedy Space Center, with several engineering contracts involving mostly ground systems around KSC. My responsibility as a designer was to work with NASA engineers to design and visualize future launch pad and launch vehicle concepts. My final products (mostly images and animations) were used in high-profile presentations around the country and several times ended up in popular magazines and other media, including the Science Channel & Discovery Channel.

United Space Alliance

ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE – JUNE 2003 – MARCH 2005 ( 2 years )

United Space Alliance (USA), at one point, was one of the largest space contractors in the area. USA was my start in the space industry and engineering in general. I began as a 2D draftsman and worked my way into 3D modeling, and quickly became the Pro/E lead, which, among other things, included giving training courses to co-workers and engineers.
